Who we are

Brett Battles, Co-Founder and CEO

Brett brings 25 years of leadership and success in developing successful early stage businesses and products. Brett co-founded EcoRebates in 2009 with a single goal: help the nation decrease its shocking residential energy consumption by enabling consumer to make smart product choices and buy fewer ‘appliance clunkers’. In addition to EcoRebates, Brett is actively involved in helping other early stage clean tech entrepreneurs as the Mentor Chair of the Clean Tech Open. Prior to founding EcoRebates, Brett led product management and product marketing for the OEM division of NetApp, which he helped launch in 2005. While at NetApp, Brett was a thought leader on the growing trend of energy consumption in the data center green IT product strategies. Prior to NetApp, Brett was a General Partner at Aberdare Ventures where his investments focused on SaaS, clean tech and internet-enabled retail solutions. Prior to that Brett was VP, Market and Business Development at Impresse Corp. and was also a consultant at Mckinsey and Co.

Brett holds BA and MS degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a PhD from Stanford Univ. in Mechanical Engineering.

Nikita Tovstoles, Co-Founder and CTO

Nikita is a technologist with over ten years of experience in consumer and enterprise software, start-ups, and leadership. Previously he led infrastructure and web engineering teams at Doppelganger, producer of the award-winning 3D virtual world vSide.com. Prior to Doppelganger Nikita was with Sun Microsystems where he developed state-of-the-possible software solutions and invented a sales and marketing tool that used game mechanics to communicate value of multi-core CPU systems. He also co-founded WorkoutIQ, a web service for health clubs and fitness professionals that replaced a paper-and-pencil approach to workout tracking with a web-enabled mobile solution.

Nikita holds an MBA from Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, and a BS in Computer Science from Duke University.
